“Gegenwartsliteratur: Ein germanistisches Jahrbuch/ A German Studies Yearbook is edited by Friederike Eigler (Georgetown University) and was founded in 2002 by Paul Michael Lützeler (Washington University, St. Louis). It is a premier international publication venue in the field of German Studies, presenting original research in both German and English for scholars across the globe. Each volume of the yearbook comprises articles covering aspects of contemporary German-language literature from the 1990s to the present, a cluster of articles on an annual special topic reflecting current discourses in the discipline, and a book review section. 

The 2026 Yearbook is the 25^th anniversary volume: It includes a literary essay by the writer Ulrike Draesner, individual articles on Kehlmann, Kracht, and Tawada and contributions to two special topics: Narrating Spaces & Places / Räume & Orte erzählen and: Authorship – Digital Media – Artificial Intelligence / Autorschaft – digitale Medien – Künstliche Intelligenz.”
