Three of the German Studies graduate students, M. Geyer (ALDS), Britta Meredith, and Maria Reger, both Ph.D. candidates, received one of the annual awards: M. Geyer the Palermo award for outstanding accomplishments in teaching, Maria Reger also received a Palermo award for outstanding scholarship. Britta Meredith received the Bilokur award, given to scholars doing research on Eastern European cultures and languages, for her outstanding dissertation work on Vilém Flusser, a Czech-Brazilian media philosopher and essayist. Congratulations to all three of them!
