The College of Engineering has launched a new initiative that will benefit particularly students in the EUROTECH program: Engineers Around the World.

Questions (FAQs)
What is the Engineers Around the World (EAW) program?
Engineers Around the World (EAW) is a program facilitated by the Office of Experiential Education in the College of Engineering. The purpose of this program is to help students engage in opportunities to gain connections with professional faculty and staff who are vital resources for international experiences such as study abroad, or one of IEP’s dual degree programs (partnered with colleagues in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences). EAW is an enrichment program that works on a points system, where students participate in meetings (and micro-assignments & event attendance) to gain points towards College of Engineering merch and potential cost subsidization of their international experience.
Is participating in EAW mandatory? Is it a requirement for my major?
No, participating in EAW is not mandatory. It is an opt-in program where students have been auto-enrolled after indicating interest in international engineering. It is completely voluntary and will NOT hinder any graduation requirements within the College of Engineering. EAW is NOT a requirement for any major, rather it is an opportunity to support College of Engineering students who are seeking to participate in an international program during their time at the University of Connecticut.
What do I gain from participating in this program?
Participating in this program provides information and resources to all College of Engineering students interested in participating in an international experience. Whether it is through one of the 5-year, dual degree programs, a semester abroad/exchange trip, or a short-term international experience, EAW allows students to connect with advisors, faculty and personnel to help make the most informed, best decision on a personal level. By participating in the program through meetings with these resources through use of the EAW Road Map, students have the potential to receive scholarship funding to help subsidize the cost of studying abroad. Additionally, participating students in EAW are also eligible for other EAW prizes (e.g. merch, swag).
This program is built to support students in completing the first steps in their international engineering experience where the idea is to provide additional substance to the meetings they already might be having with advisors and related personnel within the EAW support team. Students who participate in this program not only get the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the process, but they are also able to connect with like-minded students, faculty, and staff.
Can I still participate in the program if I am unsure if I want to go study abroad?
Although this program is designed with the specific intention to participate in an international/abroad program, students who do not know if they want to enroll in an international program/opportunity are welcome to participate. So – if you’re unsure, EAW is a program that can support you in exploring the opportunity of an international engineering program.
How do I register for this program? Is it free?
Registering for this program is easy! You can either do so at an orientation session or fair (listed above), or email engr.international@uconn.edu requesting access to the HuskyCT. Shortly after, you will have access to the materials that are available for students to start working. Not only is it super easy to join, but it is FREE. There is no cost to participate in this program.
